The Dogs (Protection of Livestock) Act 1953 is soon to be amended. The £1,000 cap will be lifted, with the agreement of M.P’s and Peers.
This bill also includes llamas and alpacas in the ‘livestock’ category. Please keep your dogs on a lead. This is the most simple way of avoiding heartache for livestock, farmers , dogs and their owners whose lives could be potentially changed forever.
Whether you are a walker by yourself, in a group, or walking with a dog, you must abide by the laws relating to he countryside. The incidents of breaches of the law particularly in relation to dogs, has gone up dramatically with potentially fatal consequences to farm livestock and protected wildlife.
